Vieques Island year after year wins awards for gorgeous beaches. We not only are year after year in the top ten beaches in the Caribbean, but the world!. From private to frequented beaches, you'll find it all. They're easy to get to and you can always find a perfect spot in the sand. Check out viequesbeachmap.com using the link below.
Any of these three would be a great way to explore the island. Let the Caribbean air blow through your hair while taking in the views! Taxis are also available.
ENJOY THE NIGHT LIFE
Although there are many things to do at night, we'd like to point out one of our favorites for Sunday. El Blok Hotel in Esperanza hosts a happy hour “adult swim” rooftop DJ party on Sunday afternoons Meet locals and visitors alike as you take a dip in the plunge pool, dance to some festive tunes, or just relax with a cocktail and enjoy an amazing sunset celebration.
Looking to take in a little island history? The fort, just outside of Isabel II, contains great history, amazing views, and a picturesque courtyard.
PLAYA NEGRA
Black sand beach on Vieques Island is one of 17 in the world. An easy half mile hike grandly opens to an expansive beach surrounded by the rocky cliffs of our south shore. Don’t forget that this amazing sand is magnetized! Makes a great mud bath for those sore muscles!
THE CLIFF VIEWS
Just at the entrance of Tres Palmas lies the trailhead to a 1.0 mile hike located on the southern edge of the Island. When you arrive, be prepared for some breathtaking views of the cliffside where the Caribbean Sea kisses the cliffs.
This is the place if you're in love with sushi! Visit our friend, Manny, the best sushi chef around. Tinbox (or as we lovingly call it The Tree House) has other choices besides sushi. Tinbox opened its doors back in 2012 as a Smokehouse and Oyster Bar. How about a happy hour that beats all with their $2 tacos (smokehouse chicken or pork, or the vegetarian stuffed with veggies grow from their organic gardens). Draft beer enthusiast? They have the only hookup on the island!
EL QUENEPO
You might need reservations for this one, but you won't be disappointed. Their filet mignon is to die for, the salads are great, and the drinks are tasty!
MAMA MIA
In the town of Isabel Segunda lies our go-to pizza and pasta spot. The pizza is amazing! They even have gluten free options like a cauliflower crust pie. Don’t forget to quench your thirst with their Mamarita. A fishbowl sized margarita topped with an upside down bottle of corona. YUM!
